Is raccoon city really in MI?
ok i know this is a stupid ?..... so anywase i love the resident evil games and most of them are based in raccoon city i always thaught that was a made up city the other day i watched resident evil extinction and in the beggining it shows the USA map and it zooms up to MI and alice in the movie says the virus spreded from raccoon city soo yea i justed wanted to know THAXIs raccoon city really in MI?

If you plan to tan the hide with the hair on, skip steps 2%26amp;3 and proceed with step 4. If you plan to remove the hair and tan the hide into a ';buckskin';, go to step 2.

To remove the hair from the hide and make a buckskin, do the following:
In a large plastic garbage can mix: 1 gallon of hardwood ashes

5 gallons of warm water
Stir the above mixture until it is dissolved. Completely immerse the coon skin in the mixture. Stir the mixture 2 or 3 times a day until the hair comes off easily. This will take 2 to 3 days. If the hide is left in the mixture too long, it will begin to deteriorate. After you remove the hide,

Rinse the hide with water. Place the hide on a raised surface with the hair side up. Use the back of a knife blade to scrape off the hair. Rinse the dehaired skin several times with clean water. Soak the hide for 24 hours in the garbage can in a mixture of 10 gallons water and 2 quarts vinegar. Stir this mixture with the hide in it every few hours. At the end of this 24 hour period, empty the garbage can and fill it with clean water. Soak the hide in the clean water overnight. Go to step 4

In a small plastic bucket, dissolve 1 pound of alum in one gallon of warm water. In the garbage can, dissolve 2 1/2 pounds of salt in 4 gallons of water. Pour the solution from the small bucket into the garbage can and mix thoroughly. Immerse the skin and soak for 6 to 8 days. Stir the mixture 2 times each day to make sure that all parts of the hide are exposed to the mixture. After the soaking period, remove the skin and drain it thoroughly. Rinse the skin with running water for approximately 15 minutes. Go to step 5
Step 5
Tack the wet hide to a flat surface such as a sheet of plywood. If you have opted to leave the hair on the hide, tack the skin on the surface with the flesh side facing out. Keep the skin out of the sun but allow it to partially dry. When the skin is almost dry, rub it with a light coating of warm neat's-foot oil. Remove it from the board and repeat the process on the other side. Remove excess oil from the hide with an absorbant cloth. Proceed to step 6

Dampen the skin with a moist cloth. DO NOT get the hide too wet! Rub the skin over a dull edge such as a saw horse until it is supple and soft like a chamois cloth. As the softening progresses SPARINGLY apply some warm neat's-foot oil to the hide. If you are working with a hide with the hair still on, only work on the flesh side. Proceed to step 7

It was squished in half, I pulled over and got out and picked him up and laid him in the woods. I'm afraid that I might have caught something from him. I would be mildly concerned about the red bumps on your hands. If they don't clear up in a day or two, I would advise finding a clinic where you can go see a nurse (much more affordable and some clinics are free!).
Your other symptoms sound more psychological. I think you may be upset over the raccoon and stressing yourself out over it. And stress leads to feelings like nausea and vertigo.

I doubt if anyone can 'fix it' in one or two terms, but it can for sure be improved.

Racoons can be found in zoos AND in peoples homes kept as pets. they are only aloud to be kept while they are cubs because eventually when they become adults they will begin to become very vicious like they would in the wild. My friend had a baby raccoon not too long ago but he only got to keep it for so long before it became to vicious to control. they are not supposed to be kept if you have other pets in the house becuase it could attack the other animals if its strong enough.
not many zoos have them because they can be found in forests or even back yards. but the ones that DO have them usually breed them so they can sell them as pets for pretty high prices.

My friend had a baby raccoon not too long ago but he only got to keep it for so long before it became to vicious to control. they are not supposed to be kept if you have other pets in the house becuase it could attack the other animals if its strong enough.

They are fond of getting into garbage cans and like bears, appear to be most attracted to sweet items containing a lot of sugar. Basically Racoons eat anything people can eat.

I would leave him a can of tuna every night which he ate every night. He would visit me every night looking for the food as, obviously it was an easy meal. It was funny how he showed up every night at about the same time and looked in the window at me.
Sadly, he passed away in my front yard about a month after our first meeting.

Some time ago I also killed one by running over it, but it was an accident. This guy just took a metal bar and beat the thing to death.

I was considering to report this incident, but the man said that if you can legally kill a person for entering your property uninvited, then forget about an animal. I guess he has a point there so I'm not sure.

Where to buy cheep raccoon?
Well technically you can't have a raccoon as a pet, nor can you legally buy one to have as a pet in the US... and there's no such thing as a cheap pet. But for you... get in a trash can, cover yourself with food and food scraps, be very, very, quiet, and wait til after dark. You'll get blessed with a cheap pet, but you may also get sprayed by a skunk, or bit by who knows what.

Raccoons need meat fresh meat so that means you have to go out and kill. You need at least two and can't spend any time together. Get small animals and throw them in the cage so the raccoon gets some hunting skills. And never go in the pen without someone else. Raccoons eat other things than meat, they love bananas, gold fish crackers, dog food! but as a raccoon owner, I can tell you that raccoons DO BITE AND SCRATCH. they are very destructive. The coon we have would only eat beneful, and goldfish crackers, dog biscuits. When my son started crawling we moved the coon to a cage at my sister in laws house because we were afraid she would hurt the baby.
Raccoons aren't cheap to buy nor take care of. So to answer your question...no where.
But if you're willing to spend the money, there are breeders. There's one in Indiana I know of. Or, you could get a license and become a wildlife rehabilitater. They wont be pets but you can get the same experience and feel great about saving lives!

But they've got worse now.

Tbh, it's a little scary, but the fact that it's so weird is worrying me.

I understand your interest in sharing the wildlife experience with your son, but feeding wild animals is a really bad idea:
They can be dangerous, to your child and neighborhood pets;
your neighbors may decide to trap or dispatch them if they disturb them;
they sometimes carry diseases or fleas and ticks that can infest your yard, and the growing problem of raccoon ringworm has led to blindness in an increasing number of people;
they are capable of finding food on their own and should not rely on people to feed them. They need to teach their young to forage on their own as well;
Leaving food out at night can also invite opossum and skunk opportunists.
The best lesson you can teach your son is to respect wildlife and the wild habitat. Please give this some thought :-)
In states south of Illinois raccoons carry rabies.
In Wisconsin they tear the window screens off of the windows if they think food is inside, I really REALLY would not encourage feeding them.
If you must--put out chicken bones AWAY from the house. Or dry dog food. But the more that come, the more poop you'll have in your yard and the more likelyhood of them starting to do physical damage to the property.
We humans tend to forget how resourceful and adaptable wildlife really is. Please don't start feeding them.
I don't encourage anyone to feed wild animals. They may be ';cute';, but wild animals need to maintain their natural fear of humans. If they begin to associate humans (or coming around your home) with a free handout, you are encouraging them to try this bad behavior with other neighbors who may not be as appreciative of their visits as you are.
You are increasing their chances of being shot, trapped or having an unwanted encounter with a domestic dog. It will not end well.
And because raccoons are considered one of the top rabies transmitters, a nuisance raccoon that is trapped is required to be euthanized in many states.
If you train them to start hanging around for a free handout, you are delivering them a death sentence.
If you do want to start teaching your son about wildlife, start with a walk in your local park (some of ours offer various programs designed for children, including night-time ';flashlight froghunts'; and owl walks). Teach him to appreciate wildlife without interfering with it, and you'll do your son a much bigger service than just showing him the ';cute'; animals.
They sure love dog food. Pretty please with sugar on top, let there be a pane of glass between your son and the raccoons when he sees them. Those animals can be some of the nastiest creatures around. My husband has physically fought them off when trying to keep them away from our chickens, and I've seen a dog or two torn to shreds by raccoons. They may look cute, but they are crazy when they want to be.

I found him last night after someone ran over his mother. I fed him some wet cat food so he could get rehidryated and get some food in his stomach. Now he's got a little bit of diarrhea. Find out who your nearest animal rehabilitator is. They are people who take in injured wild animals and take care of them until they can go back into the wild. Wild animals do not make good pets. Raccoons tend to be very friendly until they reach adulthood and then they get very aggressive and dangerous. So my advice would be to find someone who can better tend to this little fella.

Ahhhh, you must be leafing through my latest cook book ';Road Kill Made Delicious';. If that is the case then you all ready know that it depends on the age and sex of the animal and how fresh it is. My personal preference? Opossum, because they are smaller and easier to handle.Which is easier to tenderize on hot pavement: raccoon, opossum or deer?

I've had raccoons twice as pets! They are ADOREABLE and funny to watch! They have to wash everything they eat in their water, so we found ourselves CONSTANTLY changing the water. Yes, you can train them much like you would a dog. PLUS, they need to be handled a LOT to overcome their fear and shyness of people. Good luck if you have one! You will LOVE it. You will need to split the tail, flesh it, and tan it just as you would any other part of the hide. Help! my mom was scrached by a raccoon!!!?
There has been a raccoon in my back yard for a wile now and my mom was sitting up stairs and he came up to her sweetly and stud up on his leg ans acsedentally scrached her, she has an open cut, what shuld i put on it, are there any nautral remedies, shuld she get a shot anything i can do emeadatly??????Help! my mom was scrached by a raccoon!!!?
wash it under water for a few mins and then apply some antiseptic cream and then put a bandaid on it (if its small enough) or a bandage. apply pressure to stop the bleeding. she should go 2 the doctors to get a tetanus shot and have it cleaned properlyHelp! my mom was scrached by a raccoon!!!?

Can Raccoons get stuck in thorny palm trees?
I saw two baby raccoons tonight up top a huge palm tree, this palm tree has never been trimmed so it has thick dead thorny branches from the base all the way to the top where the new branches are groing. Does any one know about how well raccoons are at climbing and if so can they make it back down? I dont want to call the fire department! ThanksCan Raccoons get stuck in thorny palm trees?

I'm guessing they are about 6 weeks old. I would think they are too young to be on their own, but no sign of mom. We have them in a cage and they are eating some cat food. Call a local Animal Rescue (Not Animal Control but one that says wildlife rescue). You can also call your local Humane Society. We take orphaned animals in all the time and get them to where they'll survive on their own with little human contact (because if they get used to humans they won't fear them and both can end up hurt). They will pick them up or you can bring them to them - they will get them to learn to eat and find food on their own and then release them back into an unpopulated by human area.
i obviously have no idea where you live but most cities or counties at least have a wildlife rescue program. you can contact you local animal control to get the number. they are dedicated to rehabilitating wild animals and letting them go. the mother may not welcome the babies back if she is still alive.....also it is very very unusual for mother raccoons to leave their young outside of the den. makes me think they were moving and the mother may have been hit by a car or some such. try the wildlife rescue. good luck.

PLEASE, do NOT keep them! Raccoons are high risk rabies carriers! Not only do many carry rabies, they can also carry distemper and a parasite that attacks the central nervous system (I don't remember the name of it, sorry). The parasite is incurable, so is rabies. The parasite is passed through their stool, which means you are at risk every time you clean their cage!
Although they are too cute right now, they won't be in a few months, as they get older. Coons become very agressive. If you get bitten, the ONLY way to test the animal for rabies is to kill it and cut the head off, to test the brain tissue.
Also, if you raise them, then let them go, they may go up to people for food and such, because they are not afraid. The people they go near may think they are sick, not knowing they were hand raised, and they may kill the coons. This happened to my neighbor, who (stupidly) picked up a baby raccoon that walked right up to him. The baby had to be killed to test it for rabies and it turned out that it was actually fine. If he hadn't touched it, or it hadn't been hand raised by someone, this wouldn't have happened.
The mother coon is probably around somewhere. They don't tend to stay right with the babies all the time. They go off and hunt alone. Put the cage outside tonight and leave it open. Most likely, the momma will come and take them away. Meanwhile, DON'T touch the coons with your bare hands, or anything they have pooped on or anything they put their mouths on. You can catch rabies if they get their saliva in a cut on you skin too. It doesn't have to be a bite. Please, let them go, where they belong.

The mother coon is probably around somewhere. They don't tend to stay right with the babies all the time. They go off and hunt alone. Put the cage outside tonight and leave it open. Most likely, the momma will come and take them away. Meanwhile, DON'T touch the coons with your bare hands, or anything they have pooped on or anything they put their mouths on. You can catch rabies if they get their saliva in a cut on you skin too. It doesn't have to be a bite. Please, let them go, where they belong.
hehehe u should totally eat them!!!! lmao! jk, that wouldn't be nice. i think you should buy a little bottle and feed them cuz my friend had a pet racoon but the only bad thing was when they get bigger and u didn't tame them enough, they can get mean but as long as u work with them, it would be fine. also, they tend to try and run away alot. either keep them or let them go. if u let them go, chances r they will die cuz they're babies without momas...
If i was you i would keep feeding them till i know there old enough to survive on there on. . .maybe 10 or 12 weeks!

FREAKIN smart raccoon?????
Ok so I have a raccon trap ( HUMANE ) and am trying to catch the raccoon that is getting into our ducks pen and killing our ducks.
But unfortunatly this raccoon is FREAKIN smart and likes to jam the bait under the trap plate so the door doesn't close when he steps on it.

If you have a secure wildlife proof pen...the raccoon should not be able to get into it. Secure your pen and you should no longer have a problem. If you are offering an easy free meal..obvioulsy you are going to have wildlife eating your chickens.

He was real tame and then out of the blue, he started getting mean, he would tear my screens out and cause all kinds of problems. I would say that their not a good pet. I ended up taking mine to the woods and letting him go.
i have done wildlife resuce for one of our local organizations, and the problem is if anyone reports you the DNR can come and take and destroy your raccoon. People will report you because a lot of people don't like them. Also, they may or may not become aggressive when they reach maturity, but they dolwant to be free...you cannot let them loose in your house, they will destroy it trying to get outside. Even though it's hard, it is better to release them. You can just let them go, look up on internet the best way.

Getting rid of any food source is the most important thing in keeping raccoons away. Keep your garbage in your garage or at least in well-secured cans. Bring pet food inside at night. If you have fruit trees they are contraptions that you can buy that will prevent them from climbing them. They also like grubs so if you have grubs in your lawn there are products you can buy to get rid of them. Once you have removed all potential food sources the raccoons will not waste their time coming on your property. If you suspect they are nesting somewhere such as under your porch then making it as unpleasant as possible is usually enough for them to pack up and leave. Throw mothballs and ammonia soaked rags in their suspected nest. Also, place a radio with loud music during the day near the area. One very important thing: be VERY careful when cleaning up raccoon poop. Many carry a potentially deadly roundworm parasite. The eggs are shed in their poop. Wear disposable gloves and wash hands thoroughly after disposing of the poop. These eggs and larvae are resistant to household chemicals such as ammonia or bleach and can survive for years. The only way to kill them is with extreme heat. If the crap was on wood pour lots of boiling water over the area. order new ones on ebay and there are many websites that sell pre-made ones that look really good. i wouldn't get regular hair extensions and dye them myself because you risk the chance of messing up. the ones that are already made are seriously perfect so that is the choice i would make.

order new ones on ebay and there are many websites that sell pre-made ones that look really good. i wouldn't get regular hair extensions and dye them myself because you risk the chance of messing up. the ones that are already made are seriously perfect so that is the choice i would make.
You actually don't need to buy extensions if your hair is long enough and it's not that hard to make them.
But try a local beauty shop.

Hi, I'm a guy who likes to go tanning. But everytime I go tanning I get a line of sunburn right beneathe where my winkies or goggles sit along with severe raccoon eyes. Most raccoons will not hurt a dog or cat but can if it feels threatened. One thing you can do is to put out a live trap and release it to the wild. Other than that, call your local wildlife agent and tell him you have a problem. The raccoon is only looking for food and doesn't mean you or your pets harm. normally, unless they're sick or REALLY hungry, they won't come near you or your dog. if your dog goes after it, it WILL fight. and they are fierce. it will probably keep coming for awhile looking for another easy meal. make sure there's nothing to tempt him back again, and for a few nights, after you bring your dog in, spray a room deodorizer or some other repellent all around your porch.
MAKE SURE YOUR DOG IS UP TO DATE ON RABIES !!!!

Raccoon in the Attic?
My Dad has captured a raccoon in our attic, and now that we have it we're not sure what to do with the poor thing.
If we take it to animal control or the place people usually take wild animals, what will happen to it? My parents and don't want it euthenized.Raccoon in the Attic?
First of all, raccoons can be very aggressive. They also can carry rabies and distemper. Do not try to handle it, let the professionals do what's best. Normally if it is a healthy animal, it should be relocated back in the wild. You could call your states Dept. of Fish and Wildlife too. When I worked for Animal Control in my county we relocated them all the time for people who caught them in special humane animal traps.
When the raccoon is gone, be sure to have your dad find out where it got in and out of the attic and repair it to prevent this from happening again. (Raccoons can cause a lot of structural damage and are quite intelligent). Raccoons in attics is not an uncommon occurrence!
Please call the right people (Fish and Wildlife or Animal Control) so that the critter will be released back into the wild.

When raccoons make that freaky shrieking, cackling sound are they mating or fighting? I assume it's fighting but some animals are rough with each other when they mate, so that's why I'm asking. Raccoon shrieking -- Mating or fighting?
