FREAKIN smart raccoon?????

Ok so I have a raccon trap ( HUMANE ) and am trying to catch the raccoon that is getting into our ducks pen and killing our ducks.


But unfortunatly this raccoon is FREAKIN smart and likes to jam the bait under the trap plate so the door doesn't close when he steps on it.


What should I do???FREAKIN smart raccoon?????

What are you using for bait? Can you rig it so the bait is actually outside the cage but under the cage (so it looks like it's inside to a raccoon) so the animal can't move it? Or rig it so the bait is skewed in the middle of a metal skewer, secure both ends of the skewer to the sides of the cage so the bait can't be moved and Rocky is forced to go in and get it?
If you have a secure wildlife proof pen...the raccoon should not be able to get into it. Secure your pen and you should no longer have a problem. If you are offering an easy free meal..obvioulsy you are going to have wildlife eating your chickens.
depends on what kind of bait your using try putting some peanut butter on it.. you might need to get a different trap as well...i donno what else to tell you for the humane way.. good luck with the raccoon
You need to get ahold of a professional animal trapper, main reason being that raccoons are extremely intelligent, and since your trap is not working.
get a gun...but like the ones with darts not bullets and shoot the thing and then let him somewhere far away....it wont kill the thing so yeah, its good
Racoons are pretty smart. So mabe u just have yo use a DIFFERENT type of trap.
