When raccoons make that freaky shrieking, cackling sound are they mating or fighting? I assume it's fighting but some animals are rough with each other when they mate, so that's why I'm asking. Raccoon shrieking -- Mating or fighting?
I know they make that noise when they are fighting over territory or food, I do not know about mating. They also make that noise when I try to run off the babies and the mother is ready to defend them.
