Will a raccoon chase me?

So I am ready to go outside to have my last smoke for the night until I see this creature/animal on the neighbor's porch. I'm thinking its a cat, but I was wrong after seeing it stand on its hind legs. Now I'm terrified of raccoons. I was trying not to come off as a threat, but I can't help but picture a raccoon charging toward me. Is this possible? Even if I do not pose as a threat, can I raccoon still charge after me?Will a raccoon chase me?
Possibly. But not that one. Yet. As the raccoons become used to being in close proximity to humans without being chased injured etc. they lose their fear of us. We are destroying their natural habitat by building our own where they once lived, They are extremely adaptable. Our garbage, the pets left overs and our crops are easy pickings. They'll gladly take up residence in our garages, sheds and even our houses if allowed. Usually they will quickly back away.

Once they lose their fear of humans and find that we will back off they become more brazen. A defensive posture is usually a crouching protective one. They'll bare their teeth and hiss and make other noises to back you off. A semi tamed one will often stand up and look for a hand out if its been fed that way. If not it doesn't take long for them to be trained to take things out of hand. Don't think for a second you can touch or try to pick it up. You'll have become a threat and will be dealt with as such.

Sick ones are another story. They may not act afraid. But they are totally unreliable to be around. They have no qualms about attacking.

Their dropping are much more dangerous for the pathogens they carry.

If you are bitten and can't kill or capture it, consider it has rabies and get the shots. Watch the animal it will let you know if it is going to attack or not. Leave you self enough space and time to exit safely. Don't crowd. It was probably curious to see if you were foraging or going to leave out some scraps for him to look through when you left the area. Will a raccoon chase me?
Most animals when frightened will fight or flee by instinct. If they are trapped in a corner they must fight because they can't flee. Also, almost any animal could be rabid if bitten by a rabid animal or bat. At a nearby lake a rabid fox followed a lady right into her cottage kitchen and bit her (requiring treatment for rabies). It is best to back off from a wild animal and give it room or even run if it is acting strangely. Many animal have been tamed by being held while babies but wild adult animals cannot be trained because of their survival instincts and are best left alone.
a couple of points i'd like to be let known 1 raccoons are extremely shy animals that will avoid you at all cost and the only way that thing will attack you is if you make it think it has to so it can make an escape (cornering it etc.) it's not going to just attack you cuz he can unless ofcourse it has rabies 2 if you're scared of a raccon then you should stop being such a wiener and get a real fear like a bear 3 bears will eat your face
Yes, and it will hunt you down, probably get thru the louvrers of ya windows when your sleeping, and attack. I suggest you move
